Dedicatory Overture
02:05
|
|||
To enter into darkness
Enter into my head
Enter into playlists of things left unsaid
To enter into my world
You got to hear the score
Unwind the impressions
Scores of symphonies of dread
But this time I won't let you down
Name the place where evil sounds
And we'll face the music head on
And this time we will show up
Pick you up when you're falling down
Onto higher ground we climb
The shamed and the guilty
Beloved and the filthy
We all fall somewhere in between
When the lines all drawn up
Are no where to be found
Onto higher ground we climb

I, only know one thing
Only know two things
I know nothing
I'm, not willing to let go
Not willing to let show
What I don't know
I, am certain of one thing
Certain of two things
Certain I don't know
I'm, not willing to let go
Not willing to let show
What I don't know
I made up my mind, I drew up the skyline
I drew up a pretty picture of the coast
It's not what I wanted and it's not what I meant
But I guess it's what I needed the most
These words they mean nothing if they don't bring you to me
And if they don't well then I guess I'm alone
I can't listen if I don't pay attention
and right now, well that's all I can afford

(the) Obvious
04:56
|
|||
I made it a point to follow the rules
But my focus wasn't sharp enough
I knew all along things were not going right
But my instincts went from fight to flight
I noticed the difference
In the inflection of my mother's broken voice
As she told me, “son, please pray for us out here
the news doesn't get any better”
And sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's hard
We state the obvious more often than not
Like how some things change
And some things they don't
Life's only constants are the things we don't know
In the midst of everything we have fallen asleep
To the music of a heavenly voice
And now it's plain to see even the noblest of thieves
Has to pay for whatever he stole
And all the songs you sing in your head and in your dreams
Have come out and found their home
In the darkest of nights when everything is not all right
Is when you question if you're alone
And sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's hard
We state the obvious more often than not
Like how some things change
And some things they don't
Life's only constants are the things we don't know...

Nobel Fight

Oh to be, oh to be an angel with a broken wing
Oh to be at home and not to find your peace
You let thieves, noble thieves, steal your peace
And I admit, I am not the type to just sit and quit
But lately I've been thinking about all this shit
All this mess, not something you would miss
Why?
Yesterday, yesterday came early and I needed space
Space that never came so then I walked away
All the way, another place, another face
And I tried, tried to make it simple but I lost my mind
Such a great disgrace disaster all the time
I'll be fine, hope you're right, guess I'll try
Why?
I'm letting go of you you know
It's on your mind 'cause it's on mine
Oh to be, oh to be an angel with a broken wing
Oh to be at home and not to find your peace
You let thieves, noble thieves, steal your peace
And I admit, I am not the type to just sit and quit
But lately I've been thinking about all this shit
All this mess, not something you would miss!

The Detour
03:41
|
|||
Time is now on our side
If only, if only for a little while
How, how do you measure pain?
The faces on the wall they all look the same
We, we can only speculate
How we will pay for this and if we're okay
Well, I hope that you are satisfied
You got what you wanted and you took what's mine
Well, I wouldn't be so sure
It's not like you've never been wrong before
I didn't know what true love was
I didn't foresee the joy you would bring me
We, we had big plans and dreams
The detour home was the road that lead you to me

Brother Moon (Me & You)
03:47
|
|||
Another waste of time, another day goes by
But darlin' it ain't a waste when it's with you
Although the years have come, you're still my number one
Always faithful and true
Hold my hand, hold my heart,
hold my hand and nothing can keep us apart
When Brother Moon arrives, it's me and you tonight
And we're gonna dance the night away
The train that moves so slow has got a ways to go
And darlin' like the train, I will wait.
Hold my hand, hold my heart,
Hold my hand and nothing can keep us apart!

Well the party's over
Didn't get to dance
We got the call
Sister's got a chance
I'm falling, I'm falling
The waiting room
How could I forget?
Cold and blue
Counting my regrets
It's my fault, it's my fault
Wake up I said, this ain't a game, I love you more than anything
I need your heart, I need your smile, I need your laugh, I want you back
The car's become
Evidence
As if you needed more proof than this
She's lying there because of you, or was it me?
Wake up I said, this ain't a game, I love you more than anything
I need your heart, I need your smile, I need your laugh, I need you back!

Tawndelyn
04:20
|
|||
Almost made it up the hill
Foot was on the brake
Passed out on the steering wheel
But Tawndelyn's on her way
And she is running late
She is running late
And no matter how you fall
Always someone you can call
Let it be, let it go
Have some faith, let it grow
Blacked out with no where to go
Halfway home to Halfway house
She stood me up through the door
Jim was in his chair
Someone who would care
Someone who would care
And no matter how you fall
Always someone you can call
Let it be, let it go
Have some love, let it show!

Litany Lullaby [live]

This one's for the lonely little drunkard
This one's to help him understand
This one's for my future daughter
To help her grow, to hold her little hand
This one's for the moon that hovers over
Reflecting my thoughts back onto the street
This one's for my uncle in the gutter
This one's to help him on his feet
And all the angel choirs sing “Hallelujah”
And the saintly souls “Amazing Grace”
And all the while time is of the essence
And it brings me to my knees to sing a praise
This one's for Holy Mother Mary
Her blue shadow watching over me
This one's for my sickly older sister
May the waters come and wash away her pain
This one's for my little brother
May his days be long and the nights bring him peace
This one's for those who can't remember
Who are lost in though in forgotten memories
And all the angel choirs sing “Hallelujah”
And the saintly souls “Amazing Grace”
And all the while time is of the essence
And it brings me to my knees to sing a praise
This one's for my mother and my father
Who taught me how to love and how to be
This one's for the painter and the writer
For the brush strokes and the words that set them free
And all the angel choirs sing “Hallelujah”
And the saintly souls “Amazing Grace”
And all the while time is of the essence
And it brings me to my knees to sing a praise
I've been brought to my knees, Amazing Grace
I'm on my knees, Amazing Grace!

Proximity NYC
03:51
|
|||
Walking along 8th and 54th I realize I can't take much for granted anymore
How we got here, well I'll tell you a story but I'm not sure you'll listen 'cause it's rather long and boring
Usually I wear my heart on my sleeve and right now well my sleeve is really bursting at the seams
Because the man that I see when I look in the mirror is different than the man I see when I'm looking at pictures
Because the man in the picture is posing for the moment, the man in the mirror has no time for such enjoyment
Why must I be so distant from everything?
When everything is so near, guess it's only proximity
When everything's around where can the truth be found?
The gas station clerk continues to sell beer to a man that is giving off a smell
And never does she stop to wonder how it is the man got to be this way and how he really lives
But actually they're both one in the same, they both go through the same routine day after day
The clerk she goes home and cares for family while the man, well he sleeps alone in a drunken misery
But they both late at night when they finally get to bed, dream of people and places they'd rather be instead singing,
Why must I be so distant from everything?
When everything is so near, guess it's only proximity
When everyone's around where can the love be found?
A young mother holds her young three year old
Although the girl can walk the mother's scared to let her go
For good reason you know, see she is on her own
Everyone she knows and loves comes from a broken home
The small town of West, two miles wide and flat, just struck by a tragedy that put it on the map
But the people unite, they lost houses and lives
Stand strong as one and sing throughout the whole night singing,
Why must we be so distant from everything?
When everything's so far, just look up and see the stars
When nothing's around, love can still be found!

St. Augustine
05:15
|
|||
You search and you search for all that it's worth
You can't sleep and rest without knowing what's next
What did you hope? What did you hope to find?
Only something to call mine
This joke of a ride we call life with no end
At least there's no punch line
That's exactly what I meant
How could you ever forget?
All the places we've been
All the faces we've seen, all the lovers and friends
All the mountains and seas
You and me
Is there more of me I'm not willing to share?
Well it's hard to know if you, if you really care
The weight and the costs of love made and love lost
All the wars that we wage, is there really such thing as a just cause?
When new year brings new life and only more struggle and more strife.
I cry don't leave but you never really left
You've been here all along and you know what's best
You know what's best
You are what's best
You are Best
You give me more and more and more every day
You are the Truth, You are the Life, You are the Way.
